Dr Mitesh Badiani BDS DPDS

Mitesh is the Clinical Lead at Plymouth Dental Centre of Excellence and has over 20 years of dental experience. He has been the clinical lead of this practice and our sister practice Devon Dental Centre of Excellence for 18 years. His vision was to create a patient journey which represents a high standard of care and service from the first time the patient walks into the practice right through to the treatment received in surgery and post-treatment communication.  This high level of patient care has also been created at the Devon Dental Centre of Excellence in Ashburton.

Mitesh is proud of the team which has followed his ethos of putting the patient first. He is also proud that he is working with a team of highly experienced specialists which enables patients to be treated ‘in-house’ rather than be referred to either Bristol or London.  The Centre in Ashburton is, in fact, one of only a few practices in the Southwest that offers all types of dental specialist under one roof.

He has a specialist interest in:

Mitesh is a member of British Dental Association, Association of Dental Implantology, British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Warwick as part of the post graduate implant dentistry programme.

Mitesh has also been active in supporting overseas communities. He has set up a charity hospital in Gujarat in North West India that currently treats general patients as well as provides eye surgery and dental treatment. He is also involved in setting up a charitable dental unit in Uganda.

Dr Badiani is in surgery on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Dr. Paula Trower BDS

Dental Clinician
GDC reg no: 53512 Bristol 12/12/79

Dr Trower trained at Bristol University and qualified in 1979. She has worked in general practice in the Plymouth area since 1980, and for eleven years had her own practice before starting at Plymouth Dental in 2005. Dr Trower also teaches at the Pennisula Dental School.

Dr Trower is available for appointments on Tuesdays at the practice.

Dr Andre Faro LMD

Implant Practioner
GDC reg no: 168447 Porto, Portugal 29/10/08

A practitioner of high expertise, Dr Faro qualified in 2008 and is currently doing an MSc in Implantology at Warwick University. As an accomplished practitioner, he can receive referrals for every possible implant case. Dr faro also has a special interest in composite (white) fillings.

Dr Faro is available for appointments on Thursdays.

Dr Antaios Oikonomou DDS, MSc (Periodontology)

Special Interest in Perio (Gum) Disease
GDC reg no:104261 Greece 1998

Dr Oikonomou qualified as a General Dental Practitioner in Greece in 1998. He has since undertaken an MSc program in Periodontology in The Netherlands in 2007 and he qualified in 2010. This further enhancement gives Dr Oikonomou a broad background in the pathophysiology of dental diseases in particular periodontal surgery and reconstructive therapy.

Dr Oikonomou has also benefited from training in areas such as Postgraduate studies in Immunopathology and Clinical Pharmacology, NIDCR, Maryland, USA.

Dr Oikonomou joins us with a wealth of experience having previously worked in the UK, The Netherlands and Switzerland. He is an enthusiastic team member who thrives in the team environment.

Lindsey Wright (Dip HE)

Dental Therapist
GDC reg no: 170999 Cardiff 07/01/09

Lindsey is our Dental Therapist who started working with us in April 2009. She qualified in December 2008 at Cardiff University.

Lindsey focuses on the importance of excellent oral hygiene to help improve and stabilise both simple gum problems as well as advanced periodontal disease. She undertakes the bulk of the periodontal cases and helps to stabilise these patients conditions. She also places all types of fillings and undertakes bleaching treatments.

Lindsey runs 'Smile Teaching and Training' based in our Ashburton practice. The focus of the company is to deliver dental education for the dental teams. We currently run the NEBDN National Diploma course for dental nurses, and an endodontic course with Peter Davis. In the near future we will be able to offer both Basic Life Support and CPR training to all companies, including of course dental! Lindsey is our Senior Dental Therapist for all our practices and works on a wednesday and thursday morning at Plymouth Dental Centre of Excellence, and also a monday and thursday afternoon at Devon Dental Centre of Excellence.

Rachel Hollins BSc(Hons)

Dental Therapist
GDC reg no: 118881 Portsmouth 11/10/07

Rachel graduated from the University of Portsmouth’s School of Professionals Complementary to Dentistry in autumn 2007. She then worked for the Defense Dental Services (DDS) as one of two therapists in the military in the Portsmouth region where she met her partner, a submariner in the Royal Navy, then relocated to Plymouth to be together January 2012.

Rachel has a keen interest in periodontics and paediatric dentistry and providing stress free, evidence based dentistry putting patients at ease and providing the best possible care.

Debbie Hutchinson

Practice Manager

 

Debbie Hutchinson joined the team as our Practice Manager in October 2012. Debbie previously managed a large specialist referral practice and has joined us with the knowledge, experience and  understanding in delivering the highest standards of care. Debbie was awarded Practice Manager of the year 2012 at the National Dental Awards in April 2012. Debbie has overall responsibility for the day to day running of the practice and is openly involved in encouraging her team in their continuous development.

Debbie spends her spare time with her family and enjoys cinema and music.

Liz Northmore

Area Manager

Liz has worked alongside Dr Badiani since 1995, with many years chairside experience as a Dental Nurse and as Practice Manager of our Ashburton practice before becoming Area Manager in december 2008. . Liz has an NVQ level 5 in management and is chairman of the Independant Managers Group which she founded in 2009 to provide help and support for Dental Practice Managers in the South West.

Liz is also involved with the NEBDN courses for Dental Nurses run by Smile Teaching and Training at Devon Dental Centre of Excellence in Ashburton.

Amanda Hosking RDN DCP DRN OHE

Senior Dental Nurse
GDC reg no: 108708 21/03/2007

Amanda started with the practice in 1995 as a qualified dental nurse having 9 years experience in chairside assisting, oral surgery and as a trainer of new dental nurses.

Now Amanda is a mentor and trainer for new staff within the nursing team and also manages the daily running of the practice. Not forgetting in between getting married and having two boys.

Amanda completed her radiography course at Bristol University in 1998 and has sinced gained the qualification in Oral Health Education. Amanda is a member of the British Assosiation of Implantology and has assisted accross the country in various Implant procedures.

Leila Matthews RDN DCP DRN SDN

Dental Nurse

Leila joined our team in June 2006 and currently assists Dr Badiani, Dr Trower and our therapists in Surgery. Leila has been a dental nurse for 6 years now, and has gained her radiography qualification and is also qualified to assist with dental sedation and passed with a merit in 2010. She has experience in assisting with general dentistry, oral surgery and the more complex procedures including the placement of dental implants.

Leila also works at our sister practices in Ashburton and Hay on Wye (Wales) when she isn't working in St Budeaux.

Harriet Cleaver RDN DRN

 

Dental Nurse
GDC reg no: 187689 22/02/10

Harriet recently joined the team in september 2012. She started dental nursing 5 years ago and has since gained her radiography qualification. Having had experinece in general dentistry, orthodontics, oral surgery and dental implants, she now works with our Endodontic Specialist Dr Davis. as well as working in Plymouth Dental Centre of Excellence she also works at our sister practice in Ashburton.

Sarah Felix

Trainee Dental Nurse

Sarah joined the dental team in November 2012 as a trainee dental nurse and will be sitting her NEBDN Nationa Diploma exam in May 2013.

Joan Colmer

Receptionist

Joan joined the practice in 1978 bringing her experience as a  dental nurse with her and continued onto work as a receptionist and then working towards the position of Practice Manager when the practice relocated in 2002.

Joan ensures that the practice continues working towards BDA Good Practice Guide, Investors in People and works closely with old and new patients of the practice.

Joan has adopted two children and has now stepped down as Practice Manager to spend more time with her new family.

Andrea Raynor

Receptionist

Andrea joined our reception team in 2006 and has an NVQ level 3 in Business Administration.

She will also be training as a dental nurse and sitting her NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing in November 2013.
