Clinical Director
Dr. Mitesh Badiani BDS DPDS
Mitesh has been the Principal of Plymouth Dental for over 15 years. His vision was to create a patient journey which represents a high standard of care and service from the first time the patient walks into the practice right through to the treatment received in surgery and post-treatment communication. This high level of patient care has also been created at the Devon Dental Centre of Excellence in Ashburton, Riverview Dental in Totnes and Quality Dental Care in Bovey Tracey, all sister practices.
Mitesh is proud of the team which has followed his ethos of putting the patient first. He is also proud that he has assembled a team of highly experienced specialists which enables patients to be treated ‘in-house’ rather than be referred to either Bristol or London. The Centre in Ashburton is, in fact, one of only a few practices in the Southwest that offers all types of dental specialist under one roof.
He has a specialist interest in:
- Dental Implants - tutor for Warwick University and mentor for various implant systems
- Cosmetic Dentistry (training done at Louisiana State University in New Orleans under the guidance of some of the top US cosmetic dentists)
- IV Sedation - for nervous patients
- Hypnotherapy - for patients with a phobia of needles
Mitesh is a member of British Dental Association, Association of Dental Implantology, British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Warwick as part of the post graduate implant dentistry programme.
Mitesh has also been active in supporting overseas communities. He has set up a charity hospital in Gujarat in North West India that currently treats general patients as well as provides eye surgery and dental treatment. He is also involved in setting up a charitable dental unit in Uganda.
Dr Badiani is in surgery on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Plymouth Dentists
Dr. Andrew Pickering BDS
After qualifying in 1991 at Newcastle University, Andrew has developed a strong reputation in Devon as a highly skilled and personable clinician. He initally worked and trained in Newcastle Dental Hospital as a houseman in restorative Dentistry and Oral Surgery, as well as gaining some early training in maxillofacial surgery as a senior houseman at Truro city hospital before entering general practice.
Andrew has been at Plymouth Dental since 1995. Dr Pickering left to work for a while in Scotland as a lead clinician and Senior Dental Officer in Oral Surgery working between general practice and hospital.
He has a special interest in:
- IV Sedation - treating nervous patients
- Dental Implants
- CEREC - same day treatment for permanent, ceramic crowns, onlays, or veneers
Andrew is a member of the society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) and British Society of Oral Implantology (BSOI)
He is also an accredited vocational trainer for newly qualified dentists entering their first year in general practice and as well as practicing at Plymouth Dental, he holds surgery at the devon Dental Centre of Excellence in Ashburton and Riverview Dental in Totnes.
Dr Pickering is available for appointments on Wednesdays.

Dr. Paula Trower BDS
Dr Trower trained at Bristol University and qualified in 1979. She has worked in general practice in the Plymouth area since 1980, and for eleven years had her own practice before starting at Plymouth Dental in 2005.
Dr Trower is available for appointments on Tuesdays at the practice.
Dr Murshid Salman DDS
Dr Murshid Salman qualified from Ajman University in the U.A.E (Dubai) in 2003. He then moved back to the UK and completed the British qualification exams in 2006.
Dr Salman has a specialist interest in cosmetic dentistry. He believes that every patient deserves state of the art dentistry where each patient's individual needs are cared for. He has an exceptionally caring manner and he is available for appointments Mondays to Thursdays.
Dental Therapist / Hygienist
Lindsey Wright (Dip HE)
Lindsey is our new Dental Therapist who will be starting in April 2009. She qualified in December 2008 at Cardiff University.
Lindsey believes in 'no stress' dentistry and specialises in Paediatrics. Lindsey is currently on maternity leave after having a gorgeous little boy and will be returning back to work in October 2010.

Louisa Jenkins RDH RDT
Louisa joined our team in March 2010 and is covering Lindsey whilst she is on maternity leave. Louise completed her training as a Dental Therapist in Bristol University last year and she also works at our other practice in Bovey Tracey
In her spare time Louisa enjoys wakeboarding and ‘treading the boards’, singing and dancing with TOADS and TOPS.

Debbie Juster
Practice Manager
Debbie joined the practice in April 2002 before it relocated to where it is today. Debbie has worked her way to Practice Manager and ensures that the practice continues working towards BDA good practice guide and Investors in People.
Debbie promotes high standards of professional care for all our patients.
Dental Nurses
Amanda Hosking RDN DCP DRN OHE
Senior Dental Nurse
Amanda started with the practice in 1995 as a qualified dental nurse having 9 years experience in chairside assisting, oral surgery and as a trainer of new dental nurses.
Now Amanda is a mentor and trainer for new staff within the nursing team and also manages the daily running of the practice. Not forgetting in between getting married and having two boys.
Amanda completed her radiography course at Bristol University in 1998 and has sinced gained the qualification in Oral Health Education. Amanda is a member of the British Assosiation of Implantology and has assisted accross the country in various Implant procedures.
Kerry West RDN DCP DRN SDN
Deputy Head Dental Nurse
Kerry has been working in the Plymouth Practice since 2002 and has worked her way to Deputy Head Dental Nurse. Kerry is qualified in Dental Sedation and Dental Radiography.
Kerry will be expecting her second baby this year and will be leaving to go on maternity leave in June 2010.
Leila Matthews RDN DCP DRN SDN
Dental Nurse
Leila joined our team in June 2006 as a Trainee Dental Nurse and went on to qualify and is now a registered dental nurse. Leila qualified in Dental Radiography in January 2009 and has just recently passed her Dental Sedation exam in May 2010 with a Merit.
Leila is currently working with Dr Pickering and Dr Trower in surgery and is also assisting Dr Badiani with Dental Implants.
Carmel Landricome RDN DCP DRN
Dental Nurse
Carmel joined the practice as a Trainee Dental Nurse in August 2006 and also went on to qualify and is now a registered dental nurse. She recently passed her Dental Radiography in January 2010.
Carmel is a valued member of the team and currently assists Dr Salman in surgery.
Reception
Joan Colmer
Receptionist
Joan joined the practice in 1978 bringing her experience as a dental nurse with her and continued onto work as a receptionist and then working towards the position of Practice Manager when the practice relocated in 2002.
Joan ensures that the practice continues working towards BDA Good Practice Guide, Investors in People and works closely with old and new patients of the practice.
Joan has adopted two children and has now stepped down as Practice Manager to spend more time with her new family.
Andrea Hambly
Receptionist
Andrea joined our team in June 2006 as part of our reception team. She has a key role in assisting our patients and dealing with any queries and making appointments.
Andrea has recently passed her NVQ level 3 in Business and Administration. She is currently on maternity leave after having a little girl and will be returning back in July 2010.
